What is Bat Rolling?
The quickest and easiest way to break in your bat, prevent dead spots and also remove dead spots that may have already formed.
ADD 20'-40' OF DISTANCE ON EVERY GOOD HIT!
Everyone knows that bats get hotter after the initial break in process, which takes approximately 500-800 hits whereas rolling your bat will only shorten the life span approximately 200-300 hits. The trouble is, by the time you have put those 500-800 hit on the bat, it is well on its way to being worn out and has already formed dead spots which could lead to inconstant performance. By rolling your bat you can enjoy the bat’s maximum potential from the very first swing without putting all the additional wear and tear on it simply to break it in. This is a virtually undetectable process that can add incredible pop and distance on any softball or baseball bat when the ball is hit well. Ultimately, bat rolling will save the 500-800 'break in' hits and let your bat be hot right away.
The bat is placed between rollers with a specific amount of pressure applied in a balanced method in order to speed up the break in time of your bat, giving you increased batted ball speed and distance. It will make the sweet spot larger and much more consistent as well. This is why we have two different levels of rolling, each being a slightly different pressure regulated process which results in more or less of a break in and performance consistently.
Although baseball does NOT have a compression rule, we are able to provide the compression results of your bat/s before and after this service.
Bat rolling will add power to your good hits. This will be less effective if you miss hit the ball in such a way that is hits closer to the handle or end of the bat. This service will increase the power throughout the barrel of the bat.

What is Compression Testing?
The intended purpose of a bat tester is to establish how much a bat barrel compresses for the game of softball or baseball.
There is a direct relationship between the bat barrel compression readings to the bat’s performance. The lower the compression reading the better the bat will perform or the more the bat barrel with trampoline creating greater ball exit speed.
Understand that USSSA and USA(formally ASA) have compression standards that disallow bats for use in tournaments and league play if they exceed their established standards. I believe that for USSSA bat testing they can’t go below the 220lbs minimum; as for USA it might be at 250lbs.
Organization and association standards can vary from year to year. Senior leagues(slowpitch) are fortunate to be able to use bats with compression readings lower than those of USSSA and USA thereby adding a bit more energy to our hits.
From experience in the testing of senior bats has shown that a senior bat still in the wrapper typically start out between 230lbs to 250lbs compression on average (USSSA and USA bats are well over the 300lbs marker in the wrapper).
As more swings are placed on a senior bat the compression readings go down slowly and until they reach approximately the 175lbs value and is then considered to be game ready. Senior bat readings that test near the 150lbs mark are considered to be at the end of their useful life and could crack with the next contact.
Bats that test out at extremely low values like 115lbs-120lbs are kaput. With these low readings you may find either a visible break on the exterior shell or that an internal layer has been compromised, making the bat useless.
Knowing your bat’s current trampoline/compression reading will help you to know when to let a teammate take a few swings or not with your prized possession. “I’m sorry Bob, but my bat just tested out at its maximum performance reading and is going into my bat bag as game only use.”

FAQ
Why MVP over Minor League rolling?
Our Minor League roll is just that. A basic, less invasive and less of a progressive pressure heated roll method. This will still have an effect on your bat to help with break in and dead spot removal and prevention.
Our MVP roll speaks for itself. This level is a multi step progressive heated roll which packs more punch that the Minor League service. The MVP also adds to the deeper break in and overall performance of your bat as soon as you step in to the batter's box.
Can it help Alloy bats?
Yes, we will roll your aluminum bats or alloy bats. We recently ran into someone who showed us a study of double-walled aluminum bats being rolled. A Ph.D. at Kettering University in Flint, MI showed that after hitting a softball with an aluminum double walled bat 500 times, the increase in batted ball speed went up from 95.2 mph to 98.5 mph. How this works; as aluminum bats age, they form microscopic cracks on the surface which adds the trampoline effect. By rolling your alloy bat this will speed up the aging process adding more batted ball speed and distance to all of your good hits.
Do we use an approved compression tester?
YES! We use the approved G4 SSL testers for all of our services.
